Come to a free show, but you cant come in..

Tonight my girlfriend and I had the pleasure of standing outside the Regent Street Apple store for 3 hours in the cold waiting for a free show to see Simon Amstell and Eddie Izzard, only to get turned away.

We had noticed the posters in store last Saturday, advertising this free show starting at 9pm, so we thought we’d arrive early to try and beat the crowds. I asked one of the Apple staff inside about the show and he advised us to wait outside by the doors where there was already a queue forming (this turned out to be round the corner). We joined the queue and there was only a handful of people in front of us so we thought great, we have a really good chance of getting in. Some security came past and told the guy manning the barriers that once 10 more people joined the queue he was to start telling them that they had a minimal chance of getting in.

Plinky

Plinky is supposedly there to make it easy for you to ‘create inspired content’. I’m always game to try out new sites, so I signed up when the beta opened its doors this evening and for the first time ever I managed to grab just my first name as my username. But, after playing around for half an hour or so and pursuading a few friends and my girlfriend to sign up, I soon got bored. It just doesn’t sit with me as something I’d regularly visit and participate in. FriendFeed has pretty much taken over any spare time I have these days, and I still love Twitter so I don’t need any more distraction in my daily life at the moment.

I’ll keep my account, and i’ll check back once in a while to see how its doing, you never know, i might get hooked on it.

It’s made me write this blog post though, and I suck at keeping my blog up to date. I told myself I was going to try harder to write about stuff this year, and I will, sometimes its just the things I feel like writing about have already been torn apart by everyone else so there seems little point as i’d just be saying the same things other people have said. But I told myself, so, I shall keep to my own promise to myself.

Just a short post, but it’s a start right?

I'd Buy It!

So earlier on today Alan and I had an idea to start up a new blog, just for fun. It’s called I’d Buy It, and its all about supermarkets and websites trying to make people think they are getting a bargain by putting big coloured stickers on things or deceiving prices that people cant be bothered to work out.
We need people to sign up and help get it going, so if you see any snap a picture with your camera and shoot us a quick email to idbuyit@gmail.com with the subject line ‘Post Me!’ , include your name and where you found it.
We’ll try to get it up as quick as we can.
