Westminster Cathedral – 57/365
Taken this evening on the walk to Victoria. Finally managed to make it all fit into one shot
Was raining (shocker) but managed to keep rain off the lens for long enough to fire off some shots thanks to the hood, not heavy enough to use the rainsleves i bought which finally arrived today, whoop. Will get round to trying those out sometime later in the week if the weather keeps up.
Straight out of camera, with white balance correction and slight vignette added.

In Soviet Russia, Dolls Stack You – 56/365
Took this one last night as i didn’t get any shots during the day and didn’t want to miss another day out. So i got these Russian dolls my folks got me from Dubai and spent an hour or so trying to get a decent shot of them. Messed around with a desk lamp for lighting and some paper to try and soften it. Didn’t work so well and you still get a round spot on the heads. Better than it was though.
Went for a DOF shot instead of keeping it all in focus as i’ve not really made the most of the new 1.4 lens i got yet ![]()
The River Welland – 55/365
Am back in sunny Spalding this weekend. This is a shot taken this morning from High Bridge looking over the River Welland. 3 shot HDR @ f13 ISO 200, tonemapped.
It’s a handheld shot though, so it’s a bit sketchy in some areas, I managed to patch some parts up in Photoshop, but you cant really tell the bad parts unless you view in super original size.
History lesson from wiki:
The River Welland is a river in the east of England, 56 km (35 m) long, and it has been a main waterway across the part of The Fens called “South Holland” for thousands of years. It rises in the Hothorpe Hills, (adjoining Welland Rise, Sibbertoft)[1] in Northamptonshire, then flows generally eastwards to Market Harborough, Ketton, Stamford, The Deepings, Crowland, Cowbit and Spalding, then into The Wash at Fosdyke Bridge.

Strange Old Lighthouse – 54/365
Ok, so it’s from a distance, but there’s this weird lighthouse atop that building.
”The story is that the building originally served as an oyster house – oysters being the fast food of the day – with eateries often being marked by a lighthouses, much like McDonalds uses the familiar Golden Arches to catch the eye of hungry punters.”

Was just a quick shot on the walk past, so it’s not the greatest and a bit blury on the large version.
Located near Kings Cross, London.

Long Road To Ruin – 53/365
Rain and lots of it again this evening.
I took a wander around for an hour or so, snapped a few pictures around the fire-station just round the corner from the office, then wandered in through the big open doors to snap some shots of the eerie green light. Then, instead of being asked to move on, one of the firemen asked me if i wanted someone to show me round! I said no thanks as i’m sure they had better things to be doing and he said i’ll leave you to it then. Is some nice people out there it seems who don’t just tell you to move on.
Taken just next to the tube station, as none of the fire-station shots came out that well, will try to go back another time and ask for that tour!
All We Really Are is Squirrels – 52/365
I finally managed to find a squirrel in St James’ Park and get a half decent shot! I was following this little guy round for about half an hour, firing off shots as he went around digging up nuts and scoffing them. They don’t seem overly scared of people these ones, if you hold out your hand they’ll come right up to you and investigate. I’ll have to take some nuts back during a lunch time and get some more shots as they might stick around a bit longer.

What Gets Lost in The Ether – 51/365
St James’s Park Tube. – Another tube sign for tonight.
Was raining again this evening so i decided to give my camera a break from the rain, awaiting my op/tech rain sleeves..
Hopfully the weather picks up again soon though, got a few ideas and places i want to go and shoot, just a bit puf off with none of my stuff being waterproof. humph.

Oh What A Fiasco! – 50/365
What a tourist shot for tonight..
I wandered around the Victoria Gardens for a while, until I was almost locked in by some gobshite guard, didn’t seem to like me walking at my own pace on the way out, and almost locked another couple of people in before I warned him and he let of a ‘FFS’. Off with his head!
I did find a plastic cow in the Parliament gardens though, no idea why it’s there, even shows up on Google Maps, so it’s clearly been there a while. Will get a better pic of it sometime and post that as proof.
It was raining, (shocker), so I’m blaming that on my failure for something a little more original, I tried for a couple of hours but I’m not really that happy with most of the shots as I was trying to stop my stuff getting soaked. Going to have to invest in some rainbow things i think. Will have to go back there when it’s not raining, as I think I could find some nice ones, not just the cow..

Pictures of You – 49/365
Cheating again today, this one’s from yesterday at the Ideal Home Show.
Was a walk by shooting in some weird lawn thing, it focused on the wrong part of the picture, but it still came out kinda all right
Must take more time to compose pictures, then again, why, sometimes ones you dont really try for come out quite well too
