What do you do with all your old computers?

April 21, 2009 · Posted in video · Comment

You might remember the awesome video James Houston created for a Radiohead competition last year? He missed the deadline, but it’s a must see all the same.
skip to about 1 minute to see whats going on

On what i feel is the back of that video comes this video, of ancient computer equipment playing Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”

[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ht96HJ01SE4]

Here’s what you hear, and see.

Please note no effects or sampling was used. What you see is what you hear (does that even make sense?)
Atari 800XL was used for the lead piano/organ sound
Texas Instruments TI-99/4a as lead guitar
8 Inch Floppy Disk as Bass
3.5 inch Harddrive as the gong
HP ScanJet 3C was used for all vocals. Please note I had to record the HP scanner 4 seperate times for each voice.

Parkour For Bikes

April 21, 2009 · Posted in video · Comment

I remember last year, some time seeing a video of some amazing trials bike riding. I had some friends back in Spalding that used to do this kind of thing, and it always impressed me.

These last few days a new video has been doing the rounds, and it puts the last to shame.

From YouTube

Filmed over the period of a few months in and around Edinburgh by Dave Sowerby, this video of Inspired Bicycles team rider Danny MacAskill features probably the best collection of street/street trials riding ever seen. There’s some huge riding, but also some of the most technically difficult and imaginative lines you will ever see. Without a doubt, this video pushes the envelope of what is perceived as possible on a trials bike.

The day after Resident Evil 5 came out, myself and Andy thought it would be fun to try and complete the whole game in one sitting.
We started at around 3pm and eventually gave up after completing the last chaper of level 4 at around 4:30am on Sunday morning, 20 cans of beer and 2 pizza’s later.
After a few hours sleep to refresh the mind and eyes we started up again at 10am and compleated it by 3pm.

Good times :)

Over the weekend i made the jump and bought a new TV, after months if not the last year or so moaning about my TV being so bad for playing my XBox on, and just in general.
I blame Dixons, I went in there and they were all shiny, new and bright. So i decided then and there that one was going to be all mine.
The 50″ ones drew me straight into them, so nice and crisp in all the HD goodness, it was like i could have jumped right in and joined Jack Sheppard on the Dharma island in Lost, or hid behind a rock with David Attenborough and spied on animals humping in Planet Earth.
I went home and with a little help from Alan, reading reviews and searching for the best price i settled on a Samsung LE40A436T1D 40″. It would be mine after i handed over my commission money from work, and waited by the front door like a dog waiting for the postman.
I had been looking at the 32″ and 50″ TV’s, I didnt bother looking at the 40′s as i didnt think I’d go for one, so it was a shock when i got home to see it in its gigantic box waiting to get out.
I unboxed it and made some room for it, set it all up and i must say its amazing and im so happy.

OMG new TV

When we went to NYC to see the live Diggnation show being filmed we were interviewed by someone. We didnt know who she was and thought it would never even get shown. Charley was doing some browsing around the interwebs and recognized the lady’s face on a ‘top 10 femals bloggers’ list and found the video of us!

Take a trip down Memory Lane

June 24, 2008 · Posted in news, photo, video · Comment

Gizmodo have been blogging about a lego trip recently.

Excerpt:

Maybe that’s why visiting Lego’s Memory Lane—the secret vault guarding almost every Lego set ever manufactured—touched me in a way I didn’t expect. This wasn’t amazement or simple awe. I was already astonished to no end by the tour of the Lego factory. No, this was something else, something bigger than the impressive view of the 4,720 Lego sets inside this lair. These weren’t just simple boxes full of bricks. These were tickets to ride a time portal to emotions and simpler days long forgotten
